Savannah, a seven year-old Wallingford neighbor, is raising money for brain cancer research in honor of her friend, Torin, who has been battling brain cancer for the last two years. Savannah and her mom, Margie, will be taking part in a 3k walk during the Run of Hope Seattle 2011 at Seward Park, and she hopes to raise $1,000 in donations from friends, family, and neighbors. On her team page, Savannah writes:
Torin is my friend I know through Kung Fu. He is really funny, nice, and a 3rd grader. He also has brain cancer. I have joined his team to raise money to help kids with cancer. We are doing a walk as a part of Run of Hope 2011 for Seattle Children’s Hospital.
Torin’s mom told us how little research money goes to kids’ cancers. If you donate now, your contribution goes to Children’s right now, instead of being held until the event is over.
I hope you will make a donation to help. And if you would be willing to, please share this with your friends and family so I can raise LOTS of money!
So far, Savannah has raised $330 dollars and she hopes to meet her $1,000 goal before the walk this Sunday. If you’re interested in donating, you can click here to learn all about the event and Torin (the video on the page is so very sweet and sad). Donations go directly to Children’s Hospital.
