There are two, count them two, music festivals by local musicians in Meridian Park (4649 Sunnyside Ave N) in the next two weeks. This coming Sunday, August 7th from 11 am – 7 pm, is the Wallingford Music Festival. That’s their poster at right, and we know what you’re thinking: homage to the Egyptian revolution by kindergartners, or reminisce from a DMT trip spent watching the TeleTubbies? Difficult to say.
Don’t worry about it too much. Here’s the point: nine local bands, many based right here in Wallingford, playing for free all day in a park you can walk to.
Here’s the lineup:
- 11am Fountain of Circles (rock / folk / punk)
- 11:40am The Swan Burgers (Christian / Gospel / Folk / Indie)
- 12:20pm Sebastian Clark (folk freak-out)
- 1pm The Gentlemen Gluttons (Americana / folk rock)
- 2pm The Springboards (scuzzy blues funk)
- 3pm The Diving Bell
- 4pm The Hoot Hoots (rock and fun time)
- 5pm The High Life(reggae / jazz / latin / caribbean)
- 6pm VALIS (rock / alternative)
The festival is sponsored by Not A Number Cards and Gifts, Musikgarten, Video Promotions & Fitness Services, and Fin Records. Learn more about the festival here. Or sign up to volunteer by contacting [email protected].
Don’t get this confused with the Goddess Festival, featuring a separate line-up of local bands and comedy acts on Saturday, August 13th at Meridian Park. Stay tuned, we’ll give you the rundown on that shortly.
