Perhaps you’ve seen these cute, colorfully worded socks around town:
They’re all the rage among sock fashionistas and were recently featured on NBC’s Today Show as a fun new find. All summer long, Wallingford’s very own Sock Monster (1909 N. 45th St.) has been holding a contest to get customers to come up with clever words they’d like to see on socks. They’ve narrowed the entries down to the top 14 and are asking folks to come in to the shop and vote for the 3 best words by September 23. Here are the entries:
Science
Robot
Queer Bait
Awesome
Monkey
Sasquatch
Cupcake
Dragon
Honey Bee
Nurse
Wizard
Nancy Boy
Right/Left, and
OMG / WTF (my personal favorite)
You are allowed 1 Vote, but you can choose the top 3 words you like. All that is required is that you come in the store to cast your vote! Sock Monster’s hours are Monday – Friday 11:00am – 7:00pm; Saturday 11:00am – 8:00pm; and Sunday 12:00pm – 6:00pm.
And if you have any gently used shoes of any kind that you no longer wear, bring them in to Sock Monster to donate to Redeeming Soles.
Thank you, Sock Monster, for hosting the collection box and donating new socks to our homeless neighbors.
I”m liking the Portlandia reference in the article title.
Okay, I do have to ask how many of the fabulous guys from Changes have been making suggestions for your list, lol!
Ha ha ha, FreGirl! What made you wonder that? Nancy Boy? Queer Bait? Or Cupcake? I hope Sock Monster orders all three!
