Back in May, we told you about Jeffrey McCaslin—the guy who called himself “Eric” and burglarized a few homes in the neighborhood. Then, two weeks later, we reported that he had been apprehended. Now, reader Anya tells us his sentencing is this Friday, and since hers was one of the homes burglarized, she’ll be there to make a statement. She’s provided information below, in case there are other neighbors who would also like to come forward:
My house got broken into by Jeffrey McCaslin in January 2011. (See “Beware of ‘Eric'” story of May 14 on Wallyhood). I live near North 42nd and Sunnyside Avenue North. My son actually surprised him in our house, ran after him along North 40th St., called for help and people called the police on their cell phones, tackled him and held him until the police came. Then he was released (!) and burglarized other people during the spring, thus the subsequent stories on Wallyhood. My understanding is that he has been found guilty (he was caught with our stuff) and will be sentenced this Friday, August 12, at the King County Courthouse, 5th Floor. I have been asked to be there at 1:15 PM. I am going to make a statement, which I am in the process of composing. The Prosecutor’s name is Mafe Rajul, her phone is 296-9506. I would welcome anyone else who wants to come.
(Thanks to Anya for providing us with the information!)
