We’re a bit overdue for thanking our many fine sponsors, who’s generous support keeps the lights on here at Wallyhood. This time round, we’ve got a variety of news and coupons to offer you:
- Reed Painting Company is holding a Job Fair, seeking new employees, this Saturday, August 20 from 10 – 11:30 am. They’ll be serving bacon and eggs to all applicants, but you are instructed to come in work clothes, since they may have you demonstrate your handiness at painting related tasks (e.g., folding a dropcloth, painting some trim) when you arrive. There’s full details in this flier.
- We never formally welcomed Irwin’s Bakery and Cafe as a Wallyhood sponsor, so we’re doing it now. Irwin’s has been quietly expanding to Eastlake and now Greenlake from their original Wallingford location, but they’re always Wallingford to us. What’s that you say, you haven’t tried Irwin’s coffee or delicious baked goods? Just print out the coupon below and bring it in for a buy-one-get-one-free coffee drink:
- Perche No’ Pasta and Vino recently wrote “Our boys are back from Asia. They will be talking about their experiences over the last year, and making cuisine they learned on Monday, August 29th from 4 – 10 pm.” Check their website for the special menu.
- Murphy’s Irish Pub has added a live comedy night on Sundays, starting at 7:30 pm
- Uptown Espresso (“Home of the Velvet Foam”) just sent out a mailing that included a “One Free Beverage” coupon. Sorry, we can’t reprint it here or anything, you’re going to have to dig it out of your recycling.
- In the midst of the little slice of summer the good Lord has seen fit to grace us with, don’t forget that Smash Wine Bar has an outdoor patio! Take advantage while you can.
And, of course, let’s not forget:
- Lakeside Dental: They take the time to make sure nothing hurts.
- Bedrooms and More: Another great example of why it pays to buy local: the people who own and run this store are local folks who want you to have a good night’s sleep and, while they’re at it, want to make the world a better place. Readour welcome message to get the feeling for who they are, then ask yourself: do I deserve a good night’s sleep?
- Green Cleaning Seattle: You’re busy, you want a clean house, you care about the environment. ‘nuf said.
- Cooper Jacobs: Chances are, if you’re reading this, you already live in Wallingford. But maybe you rent and you yearn to own. Maybe you just need a different house. Want to talk to someone who specializes in Wallingford real estate? Find yourself a hidden gem.
- Scarecrow Video: Scarecrow Video is not just one the best independent video stores in Seattle, it’s one of the best in the country. One commenter on our initial post welcoming them aboard called them the “Powell’s Books of Video”. High praise, indeed. And did you know they have 2-for-1 rentals every Wednesday?
- Lesli Dalaba of Treetop Acupuncture bringing comfort, health and well-being to Wallingford from her backyard aerie.
- Michelle Quesada, Wallingford-based architect specializing in sustainable designs.
Thanks, y’all!
