We heard through the Wallyvine that Wally Pets (4411 Wallingford Ave N.) is about to change hands.
So, I dropped in and spoke to the soon-to-be new owner who verified this little tidbit, and he says the change will occur officially on August 1. I promised to return to interview him for Wallyhood–especially since he pointed out several framed photographs of exotic animals from all over the world, and told me he was the one who photographed them in the wild. I can’t wait to hear his stories and share them with you.
So, for now, it’s business as usual over at Wally Pets, which will remain open (yay!) during regular store hours (Mon.-Sun., 10am – 7pm). Stop in, but uh, don’t expect to grab any bulk peanut butter doggie treats because I cleaned them out.
Paul Brown the new owner of Wally Pets – who has been managing the store, but has also been recovering from an operation – is an amazing pet and people person.
When he dog/ or cat sits for friends the pets become so connected to him that they truly are are sad to see him leave. Our own dog can recognize his voice on the phone when Paul calls us and immediately goes to the front door to wait for Paul to arrive.
Just wait until you hear his tales of trekking through the bush, leaches gathering on his legs, determined to visit endangered Orangutangs. He’s our own Wallingford ‘National Geographic man’.
