We’re just a few days away from the 62nd Annual Wallingford Kiddie Parade and Street Fair, happening this Saturday, July 9. The parade begins at 11am on N. 45th Street at Corliss Avenue, and the Street Fair runs from 10am to 5pm on Wallingford Avenue, between 45th and 43rd.
This wonderful little homespun parade is a favorite among Wallingfordians, both young and old, who come to watch or walk in the six-block route along N. 45th Street. And this year is super special because longtime Wallingford resident and owner of Dick’s Drive-In, Dick Spady, is serving as Grand Marshal. There will also be drill teams, dancers, drummers, swashbuckling, kid-friendly pirates (argh, me hearties!) and anyone else who wants to participate! There’s no need to register, just dress the kiddies in a costume and meet at the staging area starting at 9:30am on Corliss, just north of 45th.
The Street Fair will feature food, crafts, bouncy houses and pony rides for purchase. Wallingford Center merchants will be giving kids free ice cream sodas, and manicures; Fuerte Fitness has some healthy snacks and drinks; FamilyWorks will have face painting and a fishing game; and the Evergreen Chinese School will give calligraphy lessons and chopstick races. The Neighborhood groups will be selling Wallingford coffee mugs, t-shirts, and track jackets.
