Jon deLeeuw sent us a quick note to announce that the Wallingford Community Council will have a booth at the Wallingford Street Fair tomorrow, from 10am-5pm, where you’ll have an opportunity to decorate some of the crosswalk flags and buckets we’ve been writing about these past few weeks:
Come by the WCC booth at the Kiddie Parade Street Fair this Saturday and participate in decorating flags and buckets.
Agree to adopt one of the street corners designated by the WCC (based on comments and data received), and you walk away with a complete kit (2 buckets, 6 flags and cable ties). After that flags will be available for you to pick up at the Neighborhood Office. If you want a set, but for not for one of the designated intersections, then we ask for a $25.00 donation with the proceeds going towards the purchase of more flags. Single flags will also be available for a $2.00 donation.
There a couple of intersections at which we’d love to have sets; however there are no convenient structures to attach buckets to. Most notable of these are Greenlake Way and N. 54th, and 50th and 1st Ave NE. Any contractors out there want to deal with the city and put in a pole?
While you’re at the WCC booth learn more about this organization that often works without much fanfare to keep Wallingford the wonderful neighborhood it is. Thanks to the WCC, the Good Shepherd Center is not a shopping mall.
