We’ve seen some new stores crop up in Wallingford lately, with a few more appearing on the horizon. Here’s what we know so far:
- Chroma Salon (1905 N. 45th St.) is now open for business. Look for the announcement for their official grand opening, slated for the weekend of July 9.
- There’s some movement inside the old Alterations and Reweaving place (1601 N. 45th St.). Reader Dave Yao writes:Walking by the corner store where an elderly woman had for many years run a clothing ‘Alterations & Repairs’ shop, I saw the interior being totally made over. I asked one of the three young folks working there what was going to be in the space. He just smiled and said mysteriously, ‘you’ll see.’ Any ideas? (Ed. note: No permit on file yet, but we’ll keep you posted.)
- We found a new building permit filed with the city for the old 7-Eleven on Stone at 46th. The description of the permit reads “Alterations to existing multi-purpose convenience store per floor plan and subject to field inspection.”
There’s been a Zaw pizza van outside the 7-11 site over the past few days.
I passed by the old Alterations place today, there was a table and a chair, hair products all over the floor and there was a lady in the process of either cutting hair or styling hair. Not sure it’s any indication of what to come, but it looks like a salon of some sort may be in the making… or not…
I overheard talk in the post office that the old 7-11 is going to become a meat-cutting or butcher shop.
I don’t know which I like more: that Wallingford is going to get a butcher shop, or that you get your news from people gossiping at the post office. #smalltownamerica
I agree with Sara B. — it’s looking a lot like another salon is going in to the ALterations & Reweaving space. Nice to see it occupied again, but I was hoping for something a little more unusual.
On the other hand — Zaw’s? Butcher shop? Can’t go wrong either way there! May have to stop by the post office tomorrow to learn the latest!
