McDonald Elementary is holding a family dance with the Tall Boys Old Time String Band that is open to the community on June 10 from 6-8pm at the Lincoln High School Gym (McDonald’s interim location, 4400 Interlake Avenue N.) Tickets are $25 per family. Here’s the skinny from the school:
This is a family affair and all are welcome. Whether or not you attend McDonald, will be attending McDonald, just want to support our neighborhood school, or just love the Tall Boys -please consider putting this event on your calendar!
This event will be a fun community builder but the other news is that all the proceeds benefit our newly established Language Immersion Assistants Fund. Our PTA is currently working to raise $100K for immersion assistants, a position that is considered integral to the immersion program but is not funded by the school district. As you may know, McDonald was only designated a new Immersion school by Seattle Public Schools in January of this year. Because of the late announcement, we missed most public grant opportunities. This means our newly formed community, two thirds of which are kindergarteners who haven’t even started yet, need to raise $100K by July 31 in order to have time to hire the Immersion assistants for the start of school. It’s a daunting task, but we are pulling together. We would appreciate any plug you could give for the dance. We have more information on our PTA webstite.
