If you’re looking for opportunities to expose your preschooler to Spanish, there’s a new Spanish language preschool in Wallingford. Cometa Playschool has opened a new location at 4106 Stone Way North, next door to Kuma Coffee. Cometa offers toddler, preschool and school-age Spanish classes.
Owner Manuela Slye explains that Cometa is “passionate about bilingual education and we believe our program will be a valuable addition to a neighborhood that already has access to foreign language education – JSIS, Hamilton, and soon McDonald. We have been serving the West Seattle community since Summer 2008 and we feel we are ready to expand to Wallingford this Summer and Montlake in the Fall.”
The Cometa program is “designed to inspire children to learn Spanish through play, music, artistic expression and more.” Manuela notes that the program encourages students to learn not only pre-reading and writing skills, but about themselves, their community, and the global community. For example, the school has worked in partnership with Northwest Harvest organizing a local food drive and with a non-profit organization working with schools and orphanages in Uganda.
The new Wallingford location is hosting open houses on Saturday, June 18, from 10:00 to 1:00, and Sunday, June 19, from 1:00 to 4:00.
I am excited to see a new preschool coming to our neighborhood! I have met the director before and she is awesome! Smart, compassionate and dedicated to her mission. Bienvenidos!
Que bueno que el vecindario de Wallingford ahora se beneficie con tener una escuela de calidez humana y profesionalismo como lo es cometa playschool.
