Joe Hurley, president of the Wallingford Neighborhood Office board (and architect-occupant of one of the more attractive houses to grace our neighborhood) dropped us a note to let us know that they are seeking sponsors for the events they put on, including the upcoming Garden Tour, the Home Tour and the Kiddie Parade and Street Fair:
We are facing a particularly tough financial situation, as the City of Seattle has decided to no longer provide street notices and barricades for non-profit events. The lowest cost private contractor has given us a price of $1,800 for the barricades required for the Parade and Street Fair. We are scrambling to find new support in the community to keep this from sinking the event.
We have opportunities to sponsor us year round, and have your business name and logo on all posters and publications, including prominent placement on our website (Wallingford.org). We also have opportunities to sponsor individual events.
The WNO is at a moment of change (you may recall that there are discussions underway to merge it with the Wallingford Community Council), but whatever happens, these events are part of what gives Wallingford its unique character, and it’s important that they continue.
