Yep, in just one week (on Wednesday, June 1), the Wallingford Farmers Market kicks off the 2011 season in their new location at the Meridian Playground field (corner of Meridian Avenue North and North 50th Street). The Wallingford Farmers Market hours for the public will be from 3:30 pm to 7:00 pm, with a special 30 minute time reserved for chefs from 3:00 – 3:30 pm to pick up restaurant orders and stock up on ingredients just in time for the weekend.
Come see Chef Dustin Ronspies from Art of the Table give a cooking demonstration starting at 4pm (and wish AOTT a happy third anniversary!)
Just a quick heads-up about getting to the new Meridian Playground location: Farmers Market organizers have asked people not to access the Market via Sunnyside Avenue North and not to park at the Good Shepherd Center parking lots. There is parking along Meridian Avenue, which is also accessible by the 16. 26, 44 and 82 bus routes.
Here’s the 2011 season lineup of chefs and cooking demonstrations:
Wednesday, June 1, 4:00pm: Chef Dustin Ronspies, Art of the Table
Wednesday, June 8, 4:00pm: Chef Jason Brzozowy, Tilth
Wednesday, June 22, 4:00pm: Chef George DePasquale, Essential Baking
Wednesday, June 29, 4:00pm: Chef Rachel Yang, Joule
Wednesday, July 27, 4:00pm: Chef Amy McCray, Eva Restaurant
Wednesday, August 17, 4:00pm: Chef Colin Patterson, Sutra Vegetarian Cuisine
Wednesday, September 21, 4:00pm: Chef Dustin Ronspies, Art of the Table
Wednesday, September 28, 4:00pm: Chef Seif Chirchi, Joule
If we are handicapped, and have a sticker in our car, will we be permitted to park close?
Sandy, To be perfectly honest with you, if you were to park at the Good Shepherd’s parking lot, you would be doing a great deal of walking to get to the Market. I would suggest parking on 50th at Meridian (or on Meridian, closest to 50th) since that would be the shortest distance from parking to the Market.
