Here’s a look at what’s happening at the Stoneway Village construction site, plus a call to artists interested in making metal sculptures and signage:
The last of the excavation and shoring work at the south end of the project is being completed. The major work that is currently happening is the contraction of the concrete slabs. The onsite workers have enjoyed the visitors that routinely walk by the site and peer into fence to see the work that is going on. There are several regulars. The congestion has been a little inconvenient at the south end of the project over the past few weeks, but with the remaining excavation complete it will help a lot. The contractor is doing a good job of keeping the people on the e-mail list informed in advance any major interruptions. If there are other neighbors that would like to be contacted directly regarding street closures or interruptions, please let us know. Contact Erica via email @ [email protected]
This month we would like to make contact with local artists that might be interested in working with us on the metal sculptures and signage that will be used in various locations on the property. We look forward to having a local involvement with this aspect of the building. Contact Erica via email @ [email protected] and we will present the artwork/sculpture specifications and information.
Looking ahead, we expect to start framing in early June. The visibility from the street will change substantially.
We have been talking to several retailers that have interest in our commercial space. The commercial space has been listed by Tiffini Connell, West Coast Commercial Realty, 206-283-5212, [email protected]
Below is an updated slideshow. Folks reading in email or on tablets can access it here.
Hope the commercial space includes small spaces for interesting small local businesses, and not just those bigger spaces that tend to be fillable only by chains. In other words, more Sock Monster, less Frozen Yogurt-a-rama.
I hope there is a Starbucks on the Southside and a Tullys on the Northside.
Yesterday’s road closure was supposed to only last until 4 I believe. It went past 630. I believe their construction permit states work can only go until 630 which they have violated multiple times.
They can fill it with wall-to-wall tanning salons if they want. Just so happy it’s not a pit anymore!
Please fill it with something useful! I for one would love a yogurt place like zoëyogurt in green lake. It’s independently owned and delish.
