Hot on the heels of Seattle Tilth’s Edible Plant Sale comes another: this time, it’s organized by the John Stanford International School Kindergartners. Head to the school’s south playground (on 4th Ave. NE, above 40th St. NE) this Saturday, May 14, from 10am to 1pm where, we’re told, they’ll have “lots of tomatoes and basil, cucumbers, beans, and other veggies, flowers and houseplants.”
JSIS mom, Kimberly also tells us the story behind the sale:
The kindergarteners at JSIS have been planting and tending seedlings for over month now in anticipation of our annual plant sale, to raise funds for our sister school Juan de la Barrera in Puerta Vallarta!
All of our seeds this year came from the Seed Savers Exchange which is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to conserving and promoting heirloom vegetables, fruits, herbs and flowers. Supporting our sale this year will not only help our sister school, but will also promote plant diversity.
Our plants are mostly organic and we have varieties chosen to do well in our climate.
