Earth Day was launched on April 22nd, 1970 and is widely credited with launching the modern environmental movement. This year, Earth Day’s theme is A Billion Acts of Green: our people-powered campaign to generate a billion acts of environmental service and advocacy. Wow, that’s a tall order!
But no worries, you can start doing your part by joining the Earth Day celebration at Gas Works. Sierra Club, CoolMom, Earth Ministry, Washington Environmental Council and Climate Solutions host a free community Earth Day Celebration on Saturday, April 23, from 11am—3pm at Gas Works Park.
This event will be a great opportunity for the community and local organizations to come together and celebrate the tremendous environmental work that has been accomplished in Washington State and look ahead to future projects, such as Washington’s anticipated transition away from coal-power. And you’ll have fun fer sure cuz there’s free food and music.
