A little late, but the folks at Stoneway Village, LLC. wanted to let neighbors to know about the street closure on 39th at Stone Way this morning. They made a last minute call this morning at 5am to close the street today, from 6:30 am to approximately 3:30 pm, so that they could “pour a slab on grade in the middle section of the project.” The alley and the sidewalk on the south side of the street are both open.
Another street closure is scheduled for Thursday, May 12, though it’s subject to change with weather. We’ve asked folks in the past if they’d like to be apprised of any future updates in email and we received some responses and passed the information to the Contractor. If anyone else would like to have updates sent to them in email, feel free to email us at [email protected]. Thanks!
It’s really annoying and inconsiderate that they have that stupid generator jutting out near 39th & Stone. When people park across from it, it’s almost impossible for a single car to pass by, and it isn’t very safe considering a lot of people turn onto that street pretty quicky from Stone and wouldn’t have time or space to react if someone is coming the other direction through that little space. They should move the generator inside the fenced in area, where there is plenty of room.
I believe I saw the city out for power in early april and the generator is still there.
now they are saying that even when the generator is moved, they’ll put something else there to take up the space. they wouldn’t want to take up their precious space.
ingress and egress for this property on 39th is a terrible idea.
I agree with Rolf. Plenty of room to put that generator inside the fence. I have altered my route since they plopped that thing there. Thought it would be temporary but I guess not. But why when they have all that whole block do they need to put the generator on the street? Seems the city should tell them to move the dumb thing since it is causing problems of ingress and egress or whatever terms they use in the book of city ordinances.
the generator is gone!
40th & Stone neighbors, you’ve gotten your wish, the generator is no longer in your way. Do you think there’s any chance you could have accomplished the same thing without the acrimony?
From everything I’ve seen, the contractor’s trying to be a good neighbor. Seems like you’d want to recognize their efforts with a little good neighborliness of your own. Any chance a simple, respectful request would have achieved the same outcome without the whining?
I think it highly unlikely that we accomplished anything with acrimony at all! A couple of posts on a blog comment is hardly going to move mountains or generators. What a strange comment iyqtoo! Are you the mover of the generator? If so, thank you kindly for reading blog comments and responding.
PS. I was hardly going to contact the contractor to tell them they should move the generator-I don’t own the street-it is up to the city of Seattle to allow it or not, so I would have to call the city and complain, and that would really go nowhere and eat up time. It was easier to drive another street. Are you suggesting I should have written a nice note and taped it on the generator”Please move kind sirs” No need to answer, I was just puzzled by your annoyed response.
