Back in November, Wallyhood told you that Woodlawn Santa (aka Sharon Ehrig) was diagnosed with breast cancer and would be unable to maintain her winter wonderland over the holidays.
Today, an update. And a happy one at that!
Surgery was a success, and Santa has completed all rounds of radiation. She is – and I quote – “99.9% better!” She’d be 100% better if she weren’t still so tired, but otherwise she’s doing great. She’ll have a mammogram in late April to make sure everything’s ok. But so far, so good.
Santa Sharon thanks everyone for the wonderful cards & letters that she received. She just re-read them all yesterday. THANK YOU THANK YOU! (You guys are great neighbors, ya know.)
For now, Sharon is enjoying some light travel and some heavy cleaning. And she can be spotted scooting around the ‘hood on her little red scooter. If I didn’t know any better, I’d say she was already out looking for more holiday decorations.
Ho ho ho!
P.S. Interested in donating to support cancer research? Here are a few localish options (not screened or endorsed by Wallyhood, we’re not qualified for that!): Cancer Lifeline in Fremont, Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, American Cancer Society, and Seattle Cancer Care Alliance.
