Did you notice that warm, sunny days of Spring arrived on the first day of Spring? Coincidence? I think not!
But the weatherMan (you know, The Man, the one who’s always putting us down) predicts rain for the weekend, so hopefully you got your garden dug and there are seeds just waiting for water. And what should you do while your seeds are drinking? It would be a fine time to watch a movie, and we’ve got a few going on in Wallingford this weekend:
- Meaningful Movies presents “The Most Dangerous Man in America – Daniel Ellsberg: In 1971, Daniel Ellsberg, a leading Vietnam War strategist, concludes that America’s role in the war is based on decades of lies. He leaks 7,000 pages of top-secret documents to The New York Times, a daring act of conscience that leads directly to Watergate, President Nixon’s resignation and the end of the Vietnam War. Ellsberg and a who’s-who of Vietnam-era movers and shakers give a riveting account of those world-changing events. Join us following the film for a facilitated discussion.” Friday, 7 pm at the Keystone Church,5019 Keystone Place N. Free.
- The Alliance Francaise presents “La Haine” : “Abdel, a local hoodlum, is hospitalized after a riot, where a policeman lost his gun. His friend Vinz finds it and claims he will kill a cop if Abdel dies.” Friday, 7 pm at the Good Shepherd Center Alliance Française Ballroom (202). Free for AF Members/$5 for Non-Members.
- Wallingford Community Senior Center presents “Despicable Me“: “When a criminal mastermind uses a trio of orphan girls as pawns for a grand scheme, he finds himself profoundly changed by the growing love between them.” They say “Bring everyone in the family for pizza and a movie with pizza donated by Wallingford Pizza House. Donations requested, RSVP to [email protected]“. Saturday, 5:30 – 8:30 pm Lower level of Good Shepherd Center
If movies are too slow for you, then get on out to Murphy’s for their Habitat for Humanity fundraiser with music from Johnny Astro and their lounge / surf stylings. Saturday, 8 pm at Murphy’s (1928 N. 45th St). $20 suggested donation.
(Murphy’s is a Wallyhood sponsor).
