Happy March everyone! Tomorrow is the first Wednesday of the month, and thusly, Wallingford Art Walk. The weather people say it’s supposed to be cold and rainy, but you’re Seattleites, so that doesn’t slow you down, right?
For what it’s worth, we had ourselves a grand time this past month touring the neighborhood with Baby Z in tow. We caught up with news at Not A Number, chatted and listened to music at Wallingford Center, enjoyed some good snacks and conversation with Lindsay Slater at Wally Pets, poked our heads into Fuel and the Bargain Fair Thrift Store (which kinda sounds like an alt-country band to us) and danced in the street outside of Babalu to the fantastic New Orleans vibe of Whith of Fisky (Baby Z’s fake ID didn’t get him through the door, unfortunately). I can’t vouch for the weather this month, but it’s the best free stroll through the neighborhood you could ask for.
Here’s the line-up, courtesy of Tara Shuttleworth. If your business isn’t listed here, it’s because you didn’t send her information about who you’re hosting.
- Oasis Art Gallery – This month is the same ‘Connectivity’ exhibition – featuring Tina Koyama, Paul Lewing, Aziz Mohammed, Cara Kennedy, and Lisa Chancellor. We are also promoting our new Art Rental program! It’s a great way for people to try out a piece of art before they buy and ideal inventory for stagers and interior designers, local Wallingford businesses, etc.
- Blue Star Restaurant – Reino Carlson, one of our own, and his unique painting.
- Fuel – Lou Samson
- Windows Art Gallery – Alison Farmer & Ron Paul Baum
- Irwin’s Bakery and Café – Our artist for March will be Gregg Keplinger, drummer and drum maker. One of our regulars and definitely one of our favorites!
- Caffe Appassionato – Showcasing Seattle Mosaic’s Art mosaics.
- Seattle Mosaic Arts – Showing a specific type of mosaic that came out of a class that we held here in November with a local mosaic artist, Crystal Thomas. For March the mosaics here will be mosaicked glass flowers on top of very traditionally mosaicked porcelain background. Very beautiful. We’ll likely have a few of Crystal’s pieces as well.
