Thursday
26th Annual Seattle Improvised Music Festival. 8pm at the Chapel Performance Space in the Good Shepherd Center. $5 – $15, sliding scale. Performers include: Tyler Wilcos (sax), Andrew Lafkas (bass), Jeffrey Allport (percussion), Lou Cohen (laptop – yup, you read that right!), Paul Hoskin (contrabass clarinet), Radu Malfatti (trombone) and Gust Burns (piano). Friday
Friday Night at the Meaningful Movies presents: “The Economics of Happiness”— A newly released documentary film by the International Society for Ecology & Culture (ISEC), about the worldwide movement for economic localization. More information about the film can be found here. It’s our anniversary! Come and celebrate 8 years of Meaningful Movies! Doors open at 6:30 (note early start time) and the film starts at 7pm, and runs for 58 minutes. After the screening, there will be a facilitated discussion focused on positive solutions at a local level, featuring Vicki Robin (author of Your Money or Your Life), Seattle City Council President Richard Conlin, Leo Brodie with Transition Seattle, and Cathy Tuttle from Sustainable Wallingford.

City Cellars’ wine tasting will focus on dessert wines. The drop-in, informal tasting runs from 5pm – 7pm, and will cost you a whopping $3 – $5 for 3 flights. Complete tasting schedule available here.
Saturday
Seed Packing with Lettuce Link – Solid Ground, first floor conference room (1501 N. 45th St.) 9am-12pm. Last year, Lettuce link passed out seeds, starts, and gardening information to over 2000 food bank clients at 24 sites in Seattle. We buy these seeds in bulk and need YOUR help repackaging them for distribution. The work is low-key and family friendly, and there will be plenty of opportunity to chat with your fellow volunteers! Make your own Valentine’s cards @ Wallingford Center from 1-4pm. For kids ages 10 & up. Card making materials provided, though you should bring any special “embellishments” you wish to use. Pre-registration is suggested. Stop by Crackerjack Crafts or For Your Eyes Only to register.
