A new naturopathic clinic, Tilia Natural Health (105 NE 56th St.), recently moved to Tangletown; and while we’d like to give the clinic a warm-hearted Wallingford welcome to the neighborhood, we also need to report a robbery that occurred in their offices sometime during the wee hours of Wednesday morning. People can navigate to this website if they need the best health related advice.
Jamine Blesoff, owner of the clinic and Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine, wrote to tell us that her clinic had been broken into around 3:00 a.m. Wednesday morning. She adds:
It was a ‘smash & grab’ style of operation, with minimal damage (some passersby may see remnants of glass shards on the sidewalk, we’re working on that!) and minimal loss. Police responded quite quickly and I was able to come over pretty soon after as well. Our front desk computer was taken, and we hope to recover that soon.
Overall, we are grateful for the warm welcome we have received thus far (barring the intrusion!) and excited to become part of the health care services available for WallyHood. We are looking forward to posting more information about us and our services to the Blog soon!
We welcome anyone to stop by to take a tour of our office, or just come in for a cup of herbal tea and introduce yourself.
Welcome to Wallingford, Dr. Blesoff, though we’re sorry to hear about the burglary–which, to me, seems to be trending upward lately, much to everyone’s dismay. For example:
- Last week reader Jessica posted to the Forums that someone had stolen a leather case from her car while parked on the side lot of the QFC. Her post spurred a chain of responses in which a few others have shared unpleasant experiences in that parking lot.
- We also posted police activity last Saturday night, in which several blocks of lower Wallingford had been cordoned off after someone broke into Essential Baking.
- Of course, then there’s news of falsified accounts of attacks, which I feel is just a colossal waste of time and resources, and really should be treated as a crime, in and of itself.
In any event, stay safe folks.
The PI today mentions some recent attacks on females near UW, too. http://www.seattlepi.com/local/434699_robbers02.html
Seems to be a lot more robberies in our area. Either that, or they are getting reported more than before. While it wasn’t Wallingford, my husband had his window smashed on his car two weeks ago in Northgate. Luckily, there wasn’t anything worth taking.
I just came through Stone way N. and 40th. There were 2 traffic motorcycles stopping people and 2 police cars.
Once again, the fine distinction between “robbery” and “burglary” is lost on a reporter. They are not the same at all. Look it up – they do have specific meanings. It’s especially egregious to use the wrong, stronger, word in a headline.
Which is not to say I don’t appreciate the report, here. It’s just my job to pick nits. 😉

Is that “nits” or “knits” you pick? 😉
Ok, I appreciate the distinction.
I’m sorry, I just can’t use the word “burgled” without thinking of the Hamburglar.
