It’s only been a few weeks since we reported the good news about our neighborhood’s beloved festering pit being transformed into Stoneway Village; but folks close by have already witnessed some action down there and, by gosh, it’s a beautiful thing. Reader Denny sent us a few pictures, including the one featured on the right here, and added in e-mail that “the work appears pretty modest but it’s becoming an active construction site. At this point it’s just moving dirt around.”
A spokesperson for Stoneway Village II, LLC also sent us some photos that we’ve put together in a slideshow below, and gave us an update to share with our readers:
FINALLY!
We’ve started on-site after receiving full notice to proceed with an official start date of February 1, 2011. We’re posting some recent photos of the equipment that is currently on the property. Not too exciting yet, but it’s nice to see clean up of the hole, with some of the old bracing removed. Fresh cut earth has been exposed at the bottom of the hole, and the excavation for the tower crane foundation has begun.
A formal construction schedule has been published by our construction team, Compass Construction Management, with an 18 month completion date, though some of the details on the schedule still need to be revised. Pretty amazing what happens when you finally put equipment onto a new construction site, though. The phone is ringing off the hook with all kinds of different inquires regarding the retail spaces available and general requests for project information.
We plan to provide a monthly status report that will include construction progress, leasing information, general status and facts. Our contact information will be included for questions or concerns about the project and construction activity.
We’re happy to be your new neighbors and look forward to keeping you informed and involved with our project. Please stay tuned for more information, such as a call for artists–as we have a need for a specified artwork installation that will go on the property at one of the exterior plaza corners. More information coming soon.
We’re off and running!
This is great news. I hope all goes well with the construction. That has always been a strange corner, with the arterial & bus line coming in at an angle. This building may help tie that area together.
Awesome! This is a really good thing for Stone Way and the neighborhood.
