For this week’s “Wallingford Weekend”, we offer two bits of goings on in the day and two bits of goings on at night. For the time in between, we suggest a short snooze.
Friday night, as we explained at length earlier this week, Ben Lerner will be reading at Open Books on Friday night at 7:30 pm. Beat a (mean free) path to his door.
Saturday day, the Sound and Fury Morris Dancers will be wassailing at Meridian Playfield, starting at 11:30 am. Got no idea what wassailing is? Read all about it.
Saturday night, the Monktail Creative Music Concern presents Sounds Outside Benefit 3/3 8pm at the Chapel Performance Space in the Good Shepherd Center. Don’t be confused, that’s not March 3, we think that’s 3/3 as in “third of three”. The Wayward Music Series blog explains:
For five years, Sounds Outside: A Celebration of Adventurous Music & Community has brought creative music of the highest caliber to audiences, for free, in Seattle’s Cal Anderson Park. Due to tremendous financial difficulties that have gravely impacted our local economy, the festival carries a debt this year, for the first time in its history.
As an effort to combat the deficit, the presenting collective has created an indoor series of three concerts at the Chapel Performance Space, highlighting the works of its members. Each event features a stellar line-up of Monktail composers, with numerous performers of note participating in each concert. All proceeds from the events will benefit Sounds Outside. Please help rally support for this important annual community event!
Tonight’s concert features Scott Adams, Samantha Boshnack, Mark Ostrowski, and Stephen Parris.
That’s Stephen rocking out in the photo. If you see him, be sure to ask how Eugene is doing.
Finally, Sunday day brings us the much heralded Wallingford Home Tour, your opportunity to check out some dope cribs in the ‘hood. Get on it.
Hi, all! Nice pic of Stephen! He actually won’t be playing on Saturday, but rather some of the compositions are his own. He’ll be there to enjoy that experience!
