Our neighborhood public schools are hosting their open houses and school tours beginning this month. School tours are an excellent way to meet the principal and school staff, and catch a glimpse of a classroom or two while school is in session. It’s also a great time to ask questions and meet any parent volunteers who are on-hand to help lead the tours through the school. No time to take a tour? No worries, we’ll go on a few and give you the lowdown afterward (we have incoming kindergartners! do I sound excited? I am!) In fact, if you’ve got any questions you’d like us to ask on your behalf, post them in the comments and we’ll gather them up and ask them for you.

For the international schools pathway, can you ask why Ingraham High School was chosen as the international high school? Since John Stanford, McDonald, and Hamilton are in Wallingford, should’nt the high school be Roosevelt? Just thinking long-term…
Could you please ask if McDonald will be offering Chinese (mandarin) when it becomes an international school? Or does JSIS have any long-term plans to offer Chinese?
Neither JSIS nor McDonald will offer Mandarin any time in the near future.
My Wallingford had a pretty good report on the recent meeting at McDonald for the language immersion program.
Word is that McDonald will offer Spanish and Japanese Language immersion for the Kindergarten and first grade students starting next year, Fall 2011.
I’ve heard a couple of times that the powers that be at Roosevelt – not sure if that is the principal alone or more people – are not interested in becoming an international school.
