There may be frost on roofs, but the sun is shining bright, so there’s no reason in the world not to shrug on a warm coat and walk on up to downtown Wallingford this weekend, there’s just heaps going on.
We already told you about the artist house sales, the lighting of the Wallingford signs, Santa photos benefitting the Boys and Girls Club, and the “Shop for a Cause” fundraiser for the Wallingford Senior Center, but Kara Ceriello of the Wallingford Chamber just sent us an update with even more, including free chair massages, free hot cocoa, $1 off drinks at Murphy’s (no discount on their amazing Rueben sandwich, but you should still buy it, the cider-soaked corned beef is astounding). We’ll let Kara do the talking:
Rumor has it that there were elves – maybe Santa himself – on top of QFC this afternoon attaching red and green lights to the big, bright Wallingford sign…
It’s official: the return of a Holiday Lighting to Wallingford! Without the longtime annual Christmas tree lighting at Wallingford Center ( the tree having been cut down a few years ago ) heralding the start to the holiday shopping season, the Wallingford community was ripe for something new. Wallingford now highlights its increasingly fun, unique presence and its iconic Wallingford sign with a special new tradition: The Holiday Lighting of the Wallingford Sign, assisted by the Wallingford Green Carolers, Santa Claus, community leaders, Wallingford families, and more!
The new all-LED, energy efficient lights were custom-made for the Chamber and QFC, to fit each letter spelling WALLINGFORD on top of the Wallingford QFC at 45th and Wallingford Ave, by Green Man Holiday Lights. Green Man is a new project of Reed Painting, an environmentally-conscious Wallingford-based company.
Spend your days in Wonderful Wallingford – stroll our lively streets and find Free Hot Cocoa (from 3pm-on) at Selena’s Guadalajara; de-stress with chair massage (from 3-7pm) at Fainting Goat Gelato; get $1.00 off any drink at Murphy’s Pub when showing a receipt from shopping in Wallingford that day (Sat. only); celebrate Festivus at Not A Number from 3 to 8pm; much more.
On Sunday, Dec. 5, Shop For A Cause at Wallingford Center! It’s a special fundraiser for the Wallingford Community Senior Center at Wallingford Center, with a Silent Auction, the Dickens Carolers, refreshments and more. The WCSC has till year’s end to gather contributions toward a matching grant; ours is one of only seven Senior Centers in Seattle now, and it now serves a large portion of northeast Seattle. Many local businesses are also donating a portion of the day’s profits to WCSC too. […]
When you’re done, don’t forget the Bizarre Bazaar down at OmCulture.
Now if that doesn’t keep ya busy, we don’t know what will.
