According to the Twitterverse, Blue Star, Dick’s, Kate’s, Taco Time and Molly Moon are open. May and Djan’s seem to be closed. Mixed report on Rain (they answer their phone, but it cuts out almost immediately).
Darcey adds “a ton of cars stuck on 45th, driving westbound up the hill from I-5. There were about six guys helping out, and they really were making good progress getting cars up the hill (me included, just now) Thank you mystery ice hill helpers!”
If past years are anything to judge by, there is a huge party on Kite Hill at Gas Works.
Great night for ice cream.
I just walked by Djan’s. It smelled like they were open.
I love the snow! Was that created in MS Paint? 🙂
Thank you for the openings info. I am going out wandering soon (on foot).
@darcey: you’re welcome!
We went to Molly Moon’s earlier this evening and it was heavenly – had a hot fudge sundae. Warm chocolate on a cold night… yummmm… Plus, no lines! Or as the guy put it, “You guys ARE the line.”
Rode the bus along 45th and saw that Olympia Pizza, Kozue, Issian, May, Jhanjay, Murphy’s, and Moon Temple were open. I guess you can tell that I was riding on the left side of the bus going east.
Just got back from Kate’s. It is open and serving Hot Toddies. Thanks for the tip!
You know what isn’t open? Seattle’s whole transportation system. After waiting for hours at Lynnwood I couldn’t get any assurance that a bus would come by tonight to take me back to Wallingford, so I’m spending the night in my office. Not that it’s SoundTransit’s fault that the city, county, state, etc. can’t keep its major roads open in the face of a couple inches of snow and 20-degree temperatures. In Chicago we put down the salt, get out the plows, and get a move on. Not that it makes sense for Seattle to have Chicago-style winter preparations, but it should at least be able to keep I-5 open on what’s honestly a pretty mild day of snow.
