The Fearless Critic Seattle Restaurant Guide lists Wallingford’s Joule (1915 N. 45th St.) and Art of the Table (1054 N. 39th St.) as top eateries in its food category. The Fearless Critic is a series of restaurant guide books edited by Robin Goldstein (The Wine Trials and contributor to the New York Times Freakonomics blog). The Fearless Critic series has published restaurant guides for Houston, San Antonio, Washington, D.C., and Portland, Oregon, and makes its debut in Seattle this year, with the help of Seattle Weekly “Sexy Feast” columnist and Gastrolust blogger Jay Friedman.
The Fearless Critic Seattle Restaurant Guide includes reviews for over 250 restaurants in the Seattle area, rating them on a scale from 1-10 according to several different aspects, from cuisine to ambience. Joule scored a whopping 9.5 for its food and a 9.0 for its “feel” with the comment, “Finally, fusion that’s not the slightest bit gimmicky.”
The Art of the Table received a 9.0 for both its food and its space, and in a post on Friedman’s Gatrolust blog, he notes that “in the food category, only 16 restaurants rate 9 or higher.”
The Fearless Critic Seattle Restaurant Guide is available online through Amazon and Barnes and Noble, and at local booksellers like Elliott Bay Book Company. The guide also has a companion website that is handy for looking up restaurants and sortable by neighborhood and type of cuisine.
These are 2 of my favorite restaurants in Seattle. Good to know that the Fearless
Critic agrees.
