We’ve been hearing from old sides that trick-or-treater turnout tonight was higher than previous years. We don’t have a good frame of reference, since Baby Z is just turning two, so this was our first time hitting the streets from the collecting end, but it did seem like there were hordes of kids out.
Chatting amongst the Wallyhood writers, Helen mentioned that “the merchants on 45th were running out of candy and we were totally cleaned out at home! We had to rush out to get more,” and Margaret said “Wallingford Center was a zoo. […] But it was really, really nice to see trick or treaters out in full force at 7:30 p.m., all around the neighborhood.”
Do you have the sense that there were more, less or the same number of trick-or-treaters in Wallingford?
We had a good showing up here on Latona between 45th & 50th St. Good crowd and a lot of interesting costumes.
We had 60 or 70 on Thackeray. And thanks for the candy loan, Jordan, we needed it!
Lotsa great jack-o-lanterns in Wallingford! Thanks everyone for sending in your photos! Last call to those who haven’t yet!
NW Wallingford seemed to have more kids (younger and older) than last year too. Lots of fun. Perhaps it was the good weather?
We didn’t have as many as expected at 43rd & Ashworth. But then, someone said they saw kids running past our house. I guess it was too scary. Those that were brave were mostly younger, with a wide range of costumes. We have SO much candy left over – arrrrrrgh.
We had way more trick-or-treaters than any previous year (back to 2004). We thought maybe it had to do with last year’s study proclaiming us the #1 neighborhood in Seattle for trick-or-treat, or maybe with the fact that Greenwood and Phinney apparently did trick-or-treat yesterday. Maybe Greenwood and Phinney kids came down for a second round?
Up our stairs at 43rd & Corliss we had about 45 – 50 kids, half again as many as last year. Our stairs are a bit dark and this usually deters tricker treaters who are on a fast track candy mission. It was very fun to see all the kidlets!
38th & Bagley – we had more than previous years, maybe 2 dozen or so, but still not too many.
We only had two trick-or-treaters 🙁 But that’s probably our fault, since we couldn’t get it together in time to put out decorations or even carve pumpkins. Glad to hear there were lots of people out though — we’ll try harder next year! In the meantime, I have some extra candy to eat…
Couple dozen, better than the 3 we had last yer. Not sure if it was due to milder weather, Wallyhood anti-fear proselytization, or more comprehensive pumpkin deployment & illumination, however.
Do you know the artist Peter Bauer? He left his portfolio on our porch during trick-or-treating. I’d love to return his works to him. Please let me know if you have his contact information.
Oh boy did we have the kids this year! Latona just south of 50th…we played scary sounds from a CD on the porch and were well decorated. I had picked up about 6o big candy bars and 3 bags of minis for back-up…..by 7:30 hubby had to run up to QFC for more! Of course shortly after 8 it slowed WAY down, so there’s plenty left that will be stuffed in holiday stockings and chopped up into cookies, brownies and cakes! GREAT FUN…the weather, Sunday evening and the word was out about TandT in Wallyhood!
My…we’re on Bagley b/t 40th and 45th and had NO ONE. we had the lights ablaze, so it wasn’t that people thought we weren’t home. we’ve had way more in past years and we are not big decorators, so that’s not a change for us.
No trick or treaters last year. 6 this year. that’s looking up. Not like the hordes of all ages that we used to have.
Parents in twos accompanied all the kids and they were concerned about safety. They were reluctant to have them kids go to an apartment around the side of the house where it is darker,
We had some but not as many as last year just south of 50th in east Wallingford. We were having a dinner party with friends with all the lights on but were light on the decorations. That seems to make a difference. Will have to put more up next year.
WAY more than last year, when I had maybe 6, most of them annoying teenagers without costumes. This year I had lots of little kids, used up my bag of candy and had to turn the lights out! And the kids’ costumes were great — I mean really fancy!
On 53rd and Wallingford, we had a lot less than years past. And none of them were the kids from our street.
