Seattle Public Utilities is holding its next stakeholder meeting for the North Transfer Station on Thursday, Oct. 21 from 5-8 p.m. at the Institute for Systems Biology (837 N. 34th St). Not familiar with what’s planned for the North Transfer Station? Visit this previous Wallyhood post, which will link you to other background posts so you can get caught up!
This week’s draft meeting agenda includes:
- Overview of the four layout designs carried over from the 9/14 meeting
- Review of what’s changed since 9/14
- Introduction of five brand new layout design concepts
- Narrowing the 9 concepts down to just 5
- Discussion of work to be done prior to next stakeholder meeting
If you’d like to view the nine concepts under consideration, and/or review those that have been discarded, visit the SPU North Transfer Station Project website.
Stakeholder group meetings are open to all, but observers will not be seated at the table or participate in discussions. Time may be set aside for comments or questions from observers.
I couldn’t help but notice that in September there were 7 designs, which were narrowed down to FOUR. Now in October there are 5 new designs, for a total of 9, to be narrowed down to FIVE. Progress!
Either that, or fuzzy math.
Need to stop talking about rebuilding at this location.
The transfer station should be at Interbay where garbage can be loaded directly into railcars – no need to bust up the streets with those giant trucks and their pollution and traffic congestion.
Was at the WCC meeting two weeks ago, where this was discussed. The person in charge from the city showed a surprising lack of knowledge. Didn’t even know that the railroad tracks are all connected.
Rebuilding here makes NO SENSE!!!
Yeah! We should kick the dump out of lower Wallingford so that property prices go up and we can finally kick out the last of the low income housing people! Screw the poor, am I right?
Don’t know what the transfer station being located anywhere has to do with low income housing –
That’s one of the kookier statements I’ve seen in awhile.
