Yesterday we said that today’s Wallingford Art Walk would be the last of the season. It will not. Unlike the last few years, when Art Walk took a winter break, they’re going to try to run it throughout the winter this year. Tara will be taking over in December. It’s not 100% clear to us who chairing it next month (Colleen and Alex, the existing chairs, are stepping down after today’s Art Walk and Tara isn’t taking over until December), but that’s the story we’re told.
What we do know is that in addition to the many shows we told you about last month, there’s also the following:
- Museum Quality Framing (1235 N. 45th St) will be displaying photographer Charlie Ainslie’s show “Faces of Thailand”.
- Trophy Cupcakes will host acrylics by Andrew Heimer (at right) from her “Pulp” series of portraits painted from action-oriented comic book images.
- Green Roots Photography, which was at the Blue Star last month, will be displaying their beautiful nature photography at Chocolati this month.
If you’re looking for a map, you can download one from the Wallingford Art Walk web site, but not all of the locations listed on it will actually be showing art. Caveat voyeur!
Unfortunately the Wallingford Art Walk is on life support (or worse) –
Not well promoted, not well organized/facilitated, much of the art could/should be better and now some of the host businesses are dropping out – they don’t see the point in/value of participating; where is (was) the ‘value proposition’?.
And it’s too bad; a really good idea.
Will need a complete reboot and hope it can be revived.
