We’re giving you a days warning: tomorrow, Wednesday September 29th, 2010 is the last Wallingford Farmers Market of the season, and, as you know if you’ve been following the hullabaloo, perhaps ever.
So, one more time: shake the loose bits of dried parsley out of the bottom of your cloth sack, tuck that broke-spine old copy of the The Moosewood Cookbook under your arm and head on up to the Wallingford Center Wednesday from 3 – 7 pm.
Chef Dustin Ronspies of Wallingford’s Art of the Table will be giving a cooking demonstration starting at 4 pm. We don’t know what he’ll be demonstrating, but if this weekend’s Art of Table Supper Club is any indication (“Thirds: Seared Black Cod, Chanterelles, Corn, Duck Broth”), it will be inspirational and aspirational.
What to put in that cloth sack of yours? Winter squash are rolling in, as are wild, foraged mushrooms, perfect for soup-making or perhaps to mix with pasta. Get your last taste of summer fruit, and perhaps some good, crisp apples, still in season. If our garden is anything to go by, tomatoes are very much in season, as well.
But most of all, get your fill of buying straight from the farmers who raise the crops right in your own neighborhood.
