Audiences at the Guild 45th had mixed reactions to Ben Affleck’s second stint behind the camera in another Boston crime flick, The Town. (On the plus side, from Wallyhood’s perspective, it does have guys dressed as nuns):
“Overall really good. We’re from Boston. They toned down the accent from real life. The authenticity was right on. That’s Charlestown trash for you.” – Steve & Lindsay
“Good movie. It kept me entertained. But Hollywood-esque. Ben Affleck’s character was good. Overall thumbs up.” – Yori
“Standard action flick. Entertaining.” – Kelly
“Good. Well-acted and well-written. Surprisingly, the reviews were right. Ben Affleck stayed away from a trite presentation of the small townies and how they were trying to escape their destiny.” – Romney
“Well-acted and well-executed. Technically good. But very formulaic. Not sure why it’s being reviewed so favorably. Nothing new in the movie at all. I was waiting for the twist that never showed up.” – Jeff
“Derivative. Formulaic. Some of the dialogue was cringe-inducing.” – Steve

We saw it at CineBar – perhaps the beer helped, but we thought it was pretty good. It’s a well-paced crime drama – what were people expecting?
