Beginning Saturday, October 2, Metro riders will see a few changes made to some of the bus routes in the neighborhood. We’ve listed below those services added and discontinued to the most frequently used routes. Check Metro’s website for a full list of service changes if you don’t see your route listed here.
Routes with added service:
Route 5 On weekdays, two trips will be added each day to improve service frequency from downtown Seattle to Greenwood Ave N & N 105th St. New Northgate Transit Center trips are being added and the combined service frequency will improve to every 15 minutes until about 8 p.m.
Route 30 On weekends, service between the Seattle Center and the U-District will begin about 6 a.m. on Saturday, and 10 a.m. on Sunday. With the addition of 80 trips per week, Route 30 will operate between the Seattle Center and the U-District until midnight seven days a week.
Routes with select services discontinued:
Route 16 Northbound trips to Northgate from the Seattle Ferry Terminal at 12:10 a.m. weekdays, and 12:38 a.m. Saturday.
Route 26 On weekdays, the southbound express trip to downtown Seattle from Woodlawn Ave N & Ravenna Blvd at 7:02 a.m.
Route 30 Four shuttle trips on weekdays and five shuttle trips each on Saturday and Sunday.
Route 31 The westbound trip to central Magnolia from 12th Ave NE & NE Campus Pkwy at 6:23 a.m.
Route 45 The eastbound trip to the U-District leaving Roy St & Warren Ave N at 7:02 a.m.
Route 46 The westbound trips to Golden Gardens from Fremont Ave N & N 34th St at 11:33 a.m., 12:33 and 1:33 p.m., and the eastbound trips to Fremont from Golden Gardens at 12:10, 1:10 and 2:10 p.m.
I was pleasantly surprised to see that the 30 will run until midnight now. I’m not sure how much I’ll actually take advantage of it now, but I know that when I lived in the U District, my UW friends and I would have loved to take it over to Fremont at night. 🙂
Thank you! This wasn’t on my radar yet!
Also, the northbound route 16 trip at 12:40 is now 15 minutes earlier, so there is a bus every 45 minutes from 11:40 till 1:10.
That’s great news about the #30.
Boo! That’s the 26 I take about 90% of the time.
Anyone know what a shuttle trip is? Are those the trips it made that stopped in the U District and didn’t make it to Wallingford?
This is a really helpful round-up. Thanks a lot, guys. 🙂
@6: I think that is what it means…if I’m not mistaken, those trips are replaced (and extended) by the added service, so it’s kind of silly for Metro to even point that out.
