I could have sworn I saw last year’s category “Best Corner For Sugar Addicts” online yesterday as soon as the results were posted, but today it’s no longer there. Doesn’t matter. We know the best corner for sugar addicts is 45th & Wallingford. And by the way, I really wish those sugar addicts would quit using sugar in the alleys & leaving the empties on the sidewalks! Indecent!
Now that I have that off my chest, congratulations to all Wallingford winners in the Seattle Weekly’s 25th Annual Best of Seattle issue:
- Best New-Music Midwife: Steve Peters, who runs the nonprofit organization Nonsequitur which currently runs the Wayward Music Series in the Chapel Performance Space. Learn more here.
- Best 2am Hangover Prevention Snack: Dick’s. Duh!
- Best Tattoo Parlor: Slave to the Needle.
- Best Shoe Repair: Swanson’s on 45th. The Weekly said they’re “worth the trip to Wallingford.” Bah. It’s not like we’re all the way out on the east side or anything!
- Best Ice Cream/Gelato/Custard: Molly Moon’s. Molly Moon’s also won the category, “Best Way to Satisfy Your Sweet/Salty Craving” for their salted caramel ice cream.
- Best Cupcake: Trophy Cupcakes.
- Best Place/Provider of Naturopathic Care: Bastyr Center for Natural Health.
What’d I miss? What did the rest of Seattle miss? Talk to us!
We also congratulate the West Seattle Blog for Best Neighborhood blog, and encourage future polls to rename the category “Best Neighborhood Blog BESIDES the amazing West Seattle Blog”, to make it sporting.
While I might have gone with “Best Midnight Craving Filler” over “Best 2am Hangover Prevention Snack”, I have to give my vote to Rancho Bravo. You simply cannot go wrong at the Taco Truck! Also, I might have to give my vote of “Best Ice Cream etc.” to Fainting Goat. I’m glad they have been able to stick around!
Best corner for sugar addicts still exists – http://www.seattleweekly.com/bestof/2009/award/best-corner-for-sugar-addicts-730130/
@Matt. I agree with both! They’re our little neighborhood secrets for now, I suppose!
@Merrill — I believe that’s 2009, not 2010. ;-(
I am really surprised by Molly Moon’s best Gelato… it is tick, heavy and not creamy. Certainly not a Gelato…
Btw, Molly Moon’s is a copy/paste from this store in SF

even the flavors are the same….mmmm
Here’s a question for experienced Wallingforders:
Which has the better pie:
– High 5 Pie at Fuel Coffee
– Zoka
I don’t get the Molly Moon madnessssss… it’s just okay ice cream.
I liked Molly Moon well enough til I tried Fainting Goat’s salted caramel. Mmmmm.
Zoka has pie? Where have I been????
