After a long trip to the Northern Canadian wilderness our family returned to Seattle hungry for ethnic urban eats. What better place than the new Bamboo Village at the corner of Stone Way and N 49th St?
I include this sign facing Stone Way because it makes me smile. It’s authentic.
View from the surprisingly spacious parking lot (although we walked – yes! walked to dim sum in Wallingford).
Inside, it’s also surprisingly light, bright and spacious with clean high ceilings and big tables.
“The cart” and the dim sum menu. I’m not an expert but my husband and I shared some dense, flaky pastry triangles wrapped around pork, crispy shrimp in mustardy sauce with candied pecans on the side and some cylindrical steamed pork dumplings. He also ordered lunch from the regular menu (Kung Pao chicken, excellent). Prices were very reasonable:
A little slice of the I-District transplanted to Wallingford, only bigger, cleaner and brand new. Sigh.
Love it! I need to check this out soon!
Oh Yeah – went (walked) with co-workers on Monday at noon, seated within 5 mins. Only two carts going and no jook/congee in sight. A little slow if ordering off the lunch menu. BUT all the food was fresh, authentic and yummy. Staff attentive, prices reasonable. For folks who drive parking sparse because work is still being done to install an outside eating area. Back at my desk by 1 pm with a full, happy tummy.
Yep, I haven’t been able to park anywhere near my house since it opened. I am glad it is good, but man, how frustrating. I encourage you all to walk!
Can’t wait to try it! I mean, the Moon Temple is ok, but . . . good Chinese food? Here? How totally cool is that!!!!!
And yes, I will walk.
I can’t wait! I love dim sum and having it in the hood is awesome!
