The Burke Gilman has a new art piece, pictured below, right above Dunn Lumber at NE Pacific and Latona.
The motion of the birds taking flight works beautifully as you pass on a bike, each panel revealing the spreading cluster.
No info yet on who the artist is. We’ll make some calls and tell you what we learn, but if you know what’s up, please share in the comments.
Is it by Jennifer Dixon, the artist who did similar work on the Interurban Trail?
Looks like billboards. Please bring back Landbird Johnson. Take down these ugly signs!
Does the so-called artist have a permit to install her obtrusive signs on public property? The Burke-Gilman Trail is a Seattle park.
Mike, I must respectfully disagree with you. I was delighted to see the art as I rode by on my way to work a few weeks ago, and I’m happy it is still there. I realize this is a touchy subject (thinking back to the roundabout island sign debate a couple of months ago) but I just wanted to say to that as a daily user of the trail and a citizen of the city, this work brings me joy, and I don’t care whatsoever whether the work is permitted or not (issuing permits for this sort of thing strikes me as a silly waste of time anyway).
