Wondering what to do with yourself this weekend? We’ve got you covered… and so do some of these events, just in case Friday’s predicted rain storm pans out. Here are a few things to choose from this first weekend of June. Enjoy!
- Wallingford Garden Tour. Some scrooge has removed signs advertising this event throughout the neighborhood (SHAME!) so be sure to catch the tour in support of the Wallingford Neighborhood Office. Sunday, 10-4. Read more here. And don’t forget to talk to the flowers, they’ll love you for it!
- Wide World Books and Maps. Join fellow wanderlusters for an informal gathering of travelers as they meet and learn from each other’s travel experiences and share wisdom learned on the road. Every 1st Saturday, including 6/5 at 9am. 4411 Wallingford Ave N. Ph: 206-634-3453
- Seattle Green Festival. While this isn’t a Wallingford event, there sure is plenty to learn, to sample, and to purchase from green vendors. Then you just bring your newly-acquired items & knowledge right back here to the ‘hood to make it a greener place. Sat 10-7 and Sunday 11-6 at the WA State Convention and Trade Center downtown. Prices vary but check out the discounts (bus riders save your transfers).
- Seattle International Film Festival. All over town. Check out The Stranger’s SIFF page here for more info, recommendations, etc.
- Punk Rock Flea Market. Saturday 6/5 (all day) at the Underground Events Center, Underground Events Center at 2407 1st Ave in Belltown. The event is sponsored by the Low Income Housing Institute and promises to have tons of vinyl, video games, vintage clothes, and various other things that start with the letter V. And other letters, too, of course!
The Green Festival: yes (as sent to Wallyhood earlier), there actually is some Wallingford to it! last 2 years’ GFs featured non-profits and businesses like the Snow Leopard Society, Community Council’s Mary Heim presenting on preparedness, Sustainable Wallingford, Not A Number and others. this year i know that Cathy Tuttle of Sustainable Wallingford is again a presenter.

Fri. June 4 – Wallingford’s Community Kitchen event to benefit the Kitchen project and the Wallingford Community Senior Center (WCSC). A great dinner on to raise much-needed funds for both organizations. The “chefs” of Community Kitchens will be cooking up a Farmer’s Market dinner – featuring beautiful produce from throughout the region with a wide array of main course salads and a seasonal fruit crumble. WCSC at Good Shepherd Center, 6:30 pm.
