You’re a creative lot. Remember when we challenged you to come up with a mnemonic to remember the order of Wallingford streets? Well, see Wally Mnemonic Results if you don’t. Good times.
Anyhoo, Janet Stillman over at the Wallingford Neighborhood Office is issuing a new challenge: we need a better name for the new park near Gas Works that is presently known as Waterway 18.
Yes, Waterway 18 does have a certain ring to it. Reminiscent of Slaughterhouse 5, perhaps? But then Mila 18 has already dibbed that number, so we feel it’s used.
Janet suggests “Peek-a-Boo Park”. What say you?
Uhm.. considering that most Seattle parks are squats after dark, is “Peek-a-boo Park” really a good idea? 🙂

I went down there this week. It’s really nicely done. Considering that all the steps in the park are made from recycled street curbs, I suggest we call the place “The Curbs”.
WallyNatural (making fun of Seattle’s “Metronatural) a while back while honor its status as the only natural beach left on the lake.
I’m a dork. Let’s try that again:
WallyNatural — making fun of Seattle’s “Metronatural” slogan while honoring the waterway’s status as the last natural beach on the lake.
Why don’t we just call it
“Waterway 18 Park”
What’s wrong with that? It’s distinctive, historic (what say ye, Mr. Dorpat?), and kinda “ordinary,” ya know? Frankly, I’m a little tired of all these “Cheshiahud” names and all.

Waterway 18 does not need a “better name”. Or a different name. Leave it alone.
Based on my last three visits there (in the daytime), I propose “Bum Sleeping Park”.
How about “Northlake Park” or “Northlake Beach”.
Oh, and I just thought of the obvious name, I can’t believe no one has posted this suggestion yet: “Wallyhood Park”!!
