In January ’09, Wallyhood introduced us to Hollow Earth Radio — an Internet radio station broadcasting an eclectic mix of music and interviews 24 /7 from right here in Wallingford.
Sadly, we’ve recently learned that Hollow Earth is moving out of the ‘hood and into the Central district. But it’s good news for them, for local musicians, and for indie music fans throughout the city. From their recent press release:
By moving to a publicly accessible station in Seattle’s Central District, Hollow Earth will expand their support to the local music community through increased programming: more live free-form DJing with music from the Northwest in mind, more volunteer opportunities, more live in-studios, and more youth field recording workshops and community events. Selecting a location amongst already established and familiar community landmarks, the radio station will be a new neighbor to 20/20 Cycles, Central Cinema, Reel Girls, Girls Rock, and Gallery 1412.
Here’s where you come in. In order to make the move, the non-profit volunteer-driven Hollow Earth Radio needs to raise some cold hard cash. About $3,500. Now through about mid-June, you can donate by visiting Hollow Earth Radio’s Kickstarter profile. Donations are tax-deductible.
