It’s gay pride weekend and Wallingford’s oldest (and only) gay bar, Changes, is kickin’ it queer with a swimwear contest hosted by the Incomparable Aunt Flo.
Now who, you’re probably asking, is the Incomparable Aunt Flo? Joey Donato of Changes explains:
The Incomparable Aunt Flo is Changes’ official MC drag queen and winner of Seattle’s best queen contest. When she’s not breaking her leg (literally) for the changes volleyball team, she’s attending fun raisers to feed to the children. See her fan page on facebook, called Aunt Flo’s Pad.
So, are you going? Or perhaps you’re headed to Wallingford’s other gay bar?
OK, I’ll bite. What other gay bar is there is Wallingford?
@bmacke. Nah, there isn’t one, that’s the joke. Folks say the Grizzled Wizard’s predecessor was often mistaken for one because of the near total lack of women, but it turns out it was guy bar, not a gay bar.
Oh and I was going to guess the Grizzled Wizard was the other one catering to the bear crowd. Still a lack of women hanging out front.
Happy Gay Pride Weekend everybody!
(And to whoever those boys were that drove around the ‘hood last year, music blaring, telling everybody on the street how beautiful we all were — do it again!)
I’m just so sorry I missed Aunt Flo last night. But am I missing something? Where is the Grizzled Wizard’s? And I agree with Chris W. — anyone who wants to drive around, sharing music and anything else, is totally welcome!
Here ya go, Janey. The door is near the Erotic Bakery on 45th. Small, hard to spot:
