There are two, count them, two wine tastings going on in Wallingford this week, so you vinophiles should have ample opportunity to stuff your nose into the goblet:
Smash Wine Bar and Bistro (a Wallyhood sponsor) will be hosting a free (did we mention free?) wine tasting of Washington’s Airfield Estates wines, celebrating their release of Flygirl White, Bombshell Red and Runway Red tonight (Thursday, May 20th) from 5 – 7 pm. The wines should make a nice pairing with their 5 – 6:30 pm happy hour appetizer specials, we’d imagine.
On Friday from 5 – 7 pm, City Cellars will be holding their weekly tasting, this time featuring Washington Reislings. A flight of three wines costs $3 – $5.
If you’re still thirsty, the 50th Street Market will be holding a tasting of malt liquors, including Steel Reserve, Olde English 800 and King Cobra. Samples may be carried to the highway off-ramps at your discretion.
I swear, I thought you were serious about the malt liquors tasting. Good one. 🙂
Mmmm…this one has rich start, and the slight effervescence coaxes the hint of berry into fullness. I find the intoxication somewhat less than blotto, though, and my continued ability to see straight leaves me wondering whether it wasn’t harvested too early.
