Oasis Art Gallery, the hood’s affordable stop for exceptional art is hosting a new exhibit; Life Manifested. This exhibit runs through July 25th and focuses on five different artists that portray unique perspectives of how life manifests in our world: Lynne Auld presents a Focus on Paris Life; Tomoko Briggs portrays Otherworldly Habitats and Communities; David Harrison beautifully depicts Impressions of Madrona Trees; Ryan O’Keefe expresses the Elements of Movement; Arturo Torres shows us Doorways to Cultural Discovery.
Tonight during the Wednesday Art Walk, there will be an artist’s reception at the Gallery from 6 to 9pm. Oasis will be serving up delicious treats from Wallingford’s Cantinetta restaurant right next door so that you can satisfy your pallet while you indulge your eyes.
It may not be a bad idea to start your evening stroll at Oasis, take in some new perspectives, and head off to the rest of the art walk after. I stopped in briefly the other day to see what the new exhibit was all about, and experienced something unique; as I entered the back room I saw metal curtains hanging on hinges with beautifully framed pieces mounted on them. I interpreted this to go along well with the theme; I was able to gaze at the artwork as if it were a door to a different perspective. It is interactive and three-dimensional, a whole new approach to the way Oasis displays their work. A rather artistic way to present creativity. I suppose in the artist world- it takes one to show one.
Some of you may remember their fabulous Five year anniversary celebration. The focus of the art walk has been pulled deeper into the Wallingford Universe by Oasis, at its cozy location right near the corner of 37th and Wallingford Ave. Wander in to see what life is all about through someone else’s eyes.
