This is an exciting time for the parents and children who are attending McDonald School Elementary next fall. If you’re a parent of an incoming student, now is the time to start thinking about your involvement with the school. Parents are invited to join–and lead–the PTA for the upcoming 2010-2011 school year.
As a former board member for the PTSA at B.F. Day, I can attest that it’s a rewarding experience, and the only way to develop high quality enrichment programs for the school–from things like bicycle rodeos to the Science on Wheels coming to school, for example. These are activities which aren’t funded by the district, but can be made possible by your fundraising and planning efforts.
McDonald School mom and steering committee member Libby Chapman writes:
This is your chance to be part of creating a vibrant school and community for our McDonald Elementary children and families. We have a lot of guidance to help us through this process. Don’t let your lack of previous PTA experience discourage you from participating. If you are committed to creating a strong PTA for our children’s school, and have skills and experience to contribute, we need you!

PTA meeting June 7
McDonald School’s first PTA meeting will be held Monday June 7, at 7:00 in the Lincoln School Library. During this first charter meeting, those present will vote on the proposed PTA Board member slate presented by the McDonald Elementary PTA Steering and Nominating Committees. All those assigned to McDonald Elementary are encouraged to attend this first PTA charter meeting, even if your child will not be enrolling for several years or you are unsure if your child will be attending McDonald Elementary.
