Local post-grunge rock band Grammatrain is taking over Gas Works Park this Thursday to shoot a music video for their single, “The Last Sound.” If you’re a season ticket holder for the Sounders, you’ve most likely heard “The Last Sound” at Qwest Field before kickoff. The Sounders adopted the song as their team anthem, and co-owner Drew Carey endorsed the song and pledged to help the band make a “proper video”. Carey introduced the band to video producer Nik Venet, whose body of work includes videos for The White Stripes, Jane’s Addiction and U2. The video, while including some Sounders elements, will largely be a rock performance video, incorporating places around Seattle.
While the park is closed for regular use on Thursday, Wallyhood residents are invited to come down to Gas Works Park from 5 – 9 p.m. to be extras for the shoot. All you need to do is show up and be ready to rock. In an e-mail, Grammatrain’s lead singer and guitarist Pete Stewart writes,
At this point, we’re planning to start filming the crowd portions of the video around late afternoon and conclude that part just after dark, depending on how things go. Also, the plan is to shoot, rain or shine…after all, what could make for more of a Seattle rock video than some rain?
Update, 1:24 p.m. – Pete wrote this morning to tell us that they are encouraging everyone interested in participating to wear green and blue (or Sounders gear, if you have it). If you sign up on their website, you’ll receive an e-mail with the details.
I am going to do this. Please join me.
