The Seattle International Film Festival kicked off this past week and continues through June 13th and, while none of the films are showing here in Wallingford, we got our grubby hands on a passel of free tickets to give away, so here we are.
We’ve got a bunch of ideas on how to give them away, clever contests and puzzles, but we thought we’d just start off simple. We’re going to give away a two pairs of SIFF tickets to two people picked at random who donate to any Wallingford-based non-profit in response to this post.
You don’t have to tell us how much you donate, and we’re not going to check, just leave a comment on this post letting us know which non-profit you chose (and, if you’d like to let your neighbors know, why). We’re not going to audit you, but you’d have to be pretty low to cheat a non-profit.There’s no minimum donation, but the non-profit must have an office in Wallingford.
We’ll pick our winners on Wednesday, so break out the checkbook!
I am sure “Interconnection” has already been named many times–my daughter and I have patronized and opened our checkbook to them in the past, and we will again.
They serve a very real, concrete, escalating need while spreading an effective influence across a wide spectrum.

Regards,
Seattle Tilth, great org anization that probably does more than you/I realize. Might as well give them some more money to inspire and educate people to garden organically and conserve natural resources.

Happy Gardening & Eating,
Emily
This year, I donated to Seattle Tilth for the first time at their edible plant sale. A great org!
In the past year, I donated financially to the Boys and Girls Club in Wallingford and donated my time as a volunteer gardener in the children’s garden at Seattle Tilth. Both are great organizations that teach kids about the world around them and how best to care for it.
Although not focused on Seattle – the Snow Leopard Trust is a great organization that has been based out of Wallingford for many years. http://www.snowleopard.org/
Solid Ground is an amazing organization that works to fight poverty throughout our community, and is based right here in Wallingford. I just made a donation to their Lettuce Link program which focuses on providing healthy, organic produce, seeds and gardening information to low income individuals in Seattle. If you ever get a chance, take a trip down to their Giving Garden at Marra Farm in South Park. It is one of two historical farms in Seattle and all the food grown there goes to the local food bank, elementary school and senior feeding programs. Doesn’t get much better than that.
Thanks to everyone who donated and congrats Emily and Erica. I’ll drop you a note to arrange for ticket delivery.
