Get out your reusable canvas bags and your walking shoes and head on over to the Wallingford Center today, Wednesday the 27th from 3 – 7 pm for 2010’s second installment of the weekly Farmers Market. At 4 pm, you’ll be treated to a cooking demonstration by Wallingford’s own Amy McCray of Eva Restaurant. We don’t know what she’ll be preparing, but we did notice on their web site that they feature a special menu on Saturdays and Sundays drawn from the University Farmers Market, so there’s a clue. Their last update included “Pan Roasted Pork Rib Chop with Red Desiree Potato Mash and Dandelion Greens with Sea Breeze Farm Bacon”.
As long as we’re on the topic of restaurants taking advantage of local produce, remember that Avila also has a Farmers Market special: bring in ingredients of your choice from the market, and they’ll prepare a three-course meal around your bounty on the spot. Sit at the chef’s bar and watch it happen ($25 for 3 courses).
