Forget professional reviewers. Find out what the people think! Here are the impressions of actual, real-life Wallingford moviegoers as they were exiting The Guild‘s new film, The Joneses, with David Duchovny and Demi Moore (talk about a eugenics experiment):
“For what it was, it was entertaining. It was not deep in any way, an interesting romantic comedy. It came out at the wrong time. In our failed economy, this is more about economic affluence.“
“Great movie! Well put together, very professional, top of the line, not a flaw. But not that funny, just ok.”
“Thought it was going to be a lot of rubbish, my wife picked it out. But a brilliant movie. Very much closer to real life than at first sense. About how other people are chasing what are perceived to be the dreams. What was real was the emotion between Duchovny and Moore; the emotion was the only thing that was real. The other things weren’t real at all. Greed – there’s no substance to it. So little truth, everybody was lying. Very clever, interesting, well-written movie.“
“I didn’t think it was very good. Just weird – bland, but it tries to be a fresh idea, something new. Gimmicky.”
Okay, not much consensus on that one. But the people have had their say!
I work at the Guild and it was interesting reading this article. We only had the movie for the week (are replacing it with the Back up Plan tomorrow) but its interesting to see customer reaction as I didn’t get much sense of how it was received from just working a couple shifts this week. You guys should do this more often 🙂
agree– good use of the forum!
Thanks for the encouragement – you might see me coming around asking people about Back-up Plan soon! –Helen
