This morning’s pancake breakfast at the Wallingford Community Senior Center (WCSC), aptly named “A New Start”, was as busy as an I-Hop on National Pancake Day. By 11:30 a.m., Community Board Member Carol Ballard said the count had peaked to 190 hungry patrons. “We had 166 people before church let out,” she beamed.
Last week, we reported the center had reached 20 percent of their fundraising goal toward an anonymously donated $25,000 Challenge Grant since ramping up efforts in March. While there’s no word yet on the number of funds raised from today’s event, it was clear the Wallingford community came out in full force to help the WCSC meet their fundraising goal.
Too bad more people didn’t know about it.
Will there be another? What will be the object of the benefit fundraiser?
Right now, their main objective is to match the $25,000 challenge grant which will help keep their doors open. Stay tuned! We’ll definitely keep you posted if and when the WCSC has another event.
