I don’t know who else to ask, but WHAT is that high-pitched noise coming from the part of the ‘hood, down by 34th and Wallingford (or at least that’s where i hear it!) Wind through a pipe? Dog whistle for people? It is insufferable at night, and i can’t think of who to ask/call about it. You were the first people i thought to contact.
Last time we had a question about noise, it was the “helicopter hovering over Wallingford” that turned out to be highway pavement grinders. We’re curious what this will turn out to be.

Maybe Bubb Rubb and Li’l Sis had to move North?
My guess is that it’s Avtech. I live close by and believe it some piece of equipment they have running on the side of the building close to their parking lot. It hasn’t bothered me enough to complain, but it’s not a nice sound.
We have frequently heard a high pitched humming sound from near there – wonder if it is the same thing you are hearing. It seems to be getting worse lately.
My office is practically right there – maybe I should do a little walking around and see what I can find? I know it’s not me….
Years ago I lived in the apartment complex on 34th and Wallingford. I had a great third floor west facing unit. Shortly after I moved in, the bakery directly to the west installed a fan that came on late at night and ran all night. It was a very high-pitched and loud noise. I ended up moving soon after as I could not sleep. Don’t know if that bakery is still there. Is that where essential bakery is now?
Wow! I am first glad to see that people are responding, and now we have a few good tips to go on. I wonder if it is Essential Bakery’s fan? That sounds like the direction i hear the noise coming from. I haven’t heard it the last 2 nights, but last week it was awful.
Thanks for the ideas, and thank you, Wallyhood!
If it was indeed coming from Essential Bakery, maybe the noise is gone now since they don’t bake there anymore?
Occasionally, late at night, I can hear the high-pitch brakes from the trains off Magnolia
